Louisville faux- Sample boards.

Sample boards back up your work. But you must be very protective of them. A potential client can show the sample to another contractor who might be bidding at a lower price. Protect your work. Only a few know how I keep my techniques and colors under wraps.
This sample board will soon be used in a grand dining room. I trust the repeat client so I have no problem leaving the sample with them. It helps the client choose fabrics and other designs with ease if they have the decorative wall finish on hand. And what better way to back up your work than with the finished product right in front of you.

This trey ceiling started out white. Then base painted in beige. Fauxed with cooper/bronze with gold highlights. I always paint and faux the can lighting as well. I don't like the white to distract from the finish on the ceiling.

Oh Tapestry, Oh Tapestry, I so glad that you are finished! (Sing like 'Oh Christmas Tree'..)

This fabulous dining room was the inspiration for a tapestry to be installed in a niche in the adjacent living room of this home. The also fabulous (and very sweet- Miss B, I know you're reading this!) client requested that the color scheme stay tone on tone and not too flashy. Listening to the client is a must in decorative painting. They have a vision of what they want, and it's great to deliver when the over-priced, mass produced, printed tapestries on the web can not.

Louisville Faux- Hand painted cabinets. Before and after.

Glazed cabinets are quite popular these days. This cabinet started its life painted black to go with the previous decor. Then it was white. And now the cabinet is a cream tone with an antique glaze and distressed edges. The brass drawer pulls were also painted in a rubbed bronze style.
