Faux means fake.

These are some projects that hold true to the word "faux". The fireplace became a beautiful piece of distressed wood. The kitchen hood looks like stone, and the table is painted to represent tile.

As the owner and artist of Dixon Specialty Finishes, LLC, I have always loved the arts - drawing, painting, dance and music were a huge impact on me as a child. I truly believe these attributes allowed creativity to come freely to me.

By high school, I knew that I wanted a career in the arts. I persued a Bachelor of Fine Arts at Rockford College in Rockford, Illinois. Then an opportunity to study abroad in London, England made my career decision even more defined. I have been fortunate to have painted in the Chicago, Atlanta and Miami areas as well as in over a hundred beautiful homes in the Louisville Kentucky and Southern Indiana area where I currently reside with my husband and four children. My family supports me whole-heartedly, but the support of my parents is what I will always cherish the most. "What are you going to do with an art degree?" was never questioned. "Do what makes you happy" is what I was told. So I ran with it.

I am a professional decorative artist that specializes in custom faux finishes, unique texture applications, murals and much more for your home or business. My experience in decorative painting works wonders to bring interest to any wall, ceiling, floor or piece of furniture. Traditional, Eclectic, Modern - Dixon Specialty Finishes, LLC has a specialty finish to enhance your personal sense of style.
