Oh Tapestry, Oh Tapestry, I so glad that you are finished! (Sing like 'Oh Christmas Tree'..)

This fabulous dining room was the inspiration for a tapestry to be installed in a niche in the adjacent living room of this home. The also fabulous (and very sweet- Miss B, I know you're reading this!) client requested that the color scheme stay tone on tone and not too flashy. Listening to the client is a must in decorative painting. They have a vision of what they want, and it's great to deliver when the over-priced, mass produced, printed tapestries on the web can not.

Louisville Faux- Green and metallic faux trey ceiling.

Green faux with suble touches of metallic is so elegant.

Louisville Faux- Hand painted cabinets. Before and after.

Glazed cabinets are quite popular these days. This cabinet started its life painted black to go with the previous decor. Then it was white. And now the cabinet is a cream tone with an antique glaze and distressed edges. The brass drawer pulls were also painted in a rubbed bronze style.

Louisville faux-Fancy hand painted goodness!

Hand painted cabinet, mirror, ceiling, table bases and trey. I love my job.

Louisville Faux- Basement with style.

I actually did this grey colorwash a while ago but didn't take pictures. These walls are a perfect example of what faux can do to warm up a space when cool colors are used. It wipes out what could have looked cold and industrial, and gives the room a cozy feel.

Louisville Faux- Bye bye butterflies.

Here's a before, during, and after of a bedroom that went from baby room to teen room. Now this thirteen year old girl can enjoy a room more suitable for her age.

Louisville faux- Reduce, reuse, refurbish.

I truely appreciate when a decorative piece of furniture with bumps and bruises is given a chance to be brought back to life.

This cabinet was restored and repainted to its original state. 14K gold was added to the panels to bring out the beautiful scrollwork.

And it's amazing what a litle bit of shine can do.

Louisville faux- Baby boy nursery.

I have been a decorative painter in the residential and commercial arena for over 10 years. I have only once became friends with a client on such a fabulous degree that the client/professional relationship took a back seat. But of coarse when painting needs to be done, I am the first to snag the opportunity. I cannot wait to snuggle with the new baby boy and show him his new room!

Custom Painted Urns.

I have been working at this particular house for about four years now. Sometimes pieces need to be touched up due to weather, sun damage or the worst threat of all- kids. I love sprucing things up because it shows good customer service and it's a reminder that I have built a strong and trusting relationship with my clients. These urns see lots of sun and each time I touch them up I try to change it up a little. This time I 'weathered' them with gold to give them a unique aged look.

Stripes.

Stripes are difficult. But worth it. This room is in progress and not what you'd expect. Final pictures soon.

Cowgirl Country Chic.

I work with a couple of designers that are cowgirl chic through and through. Sometimes they get to show off their style through interior design. Lots of leather, wood, browns, beiges, and terracottas make for a great home that pairs well with the gorgeous nature and horse stables waiting outside.

A little goes a long way.

Something as simple as adding dramatic, deep color to the back of a cabinet can change the feel of the space entirely. It brings out the beauty of the decor by softening the contrast between colors.

Close up of baby bedding.

This is a close up of the bedding that became the inspiration for the room.

Nursery fit for a princess.

This room is beautiful and almost finished.

Detail of textured, paintable wallpaper.

Anaglypta wallpaper is a unique way to bring detail to a space. This paper was hung on the ceiling and painted in bronze and a smoke-like glaze for contrast against the massive crown moulding.

Hand painted and glazed cabinets.

I have reached a place in my career that makes me think that I actually know what I'm doing. When a stranger with a lovely voice calls and says, "My extremely picky, borderline OCD husband built this cabinet piece. He now wants you to pick a color and put a subtle glaze on it. We were told to call you." Of coarse I was flattered, but I will not accept a job if I don't feel that I can execute it with a professional finish and in a timely manner. Create a piece that respects and 'fits right in' with the homeowners decor. They are the ones who have to look at it every day. Let your business name bring a smile to their face.

Classic and traditional.

It is easier to faux walls when the client already has the pieces that will go in the room. There are no surprises or "I would have done something different" thoughts. When you are asked to paint in gold you have to find out what tone. Some golds are more yellow and some golds are more green. This foyer is an example of a gold with more green pigment.

Golden trey ceiling.

No wonder my neck hurts all the time. Three shades of gold over a linen tone base coat.

Before and after.

For 8 years I have admired a particular home from the road. One day I received a phone call as a referral from a very reputable paint company. The client wanted faux finishing inside the home. That was last year. The same client called me to come over and look at an exterior arcade that had water damage. Modern construction products are amazing and innovative, but this is a perfect example of how they can be affected by nature. Even though these 'stones' appear true, they are not. The color was stripped away over a period of about 6 years. Their trust in me saved them thousands of dollars in repairs.
